LEND(ing) A HAND

Al Roker's Lend a Hand charity organization has entered its ninth consecutive year. Every year Al Roker travels around the country and helps small charities that work toward improving conditions in their communities. Starting last Monday June, 21 Lend a Hand began its charitable trek across the country. The organization prides itself on giving back to communities that are in need, and this year TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® franchises in Sacramento, Cal., Des Moines, Iowa, and Memphis, Tenn. were able to be a part of this great charity and help give back to their communities.

San Francisco

On day one of Lend a Hand Al Roker visited San Francisco to help out Real Options for City Kids (ROCK).  ROCK is a San Francisco-based charity dedicated to nurturing the healthy development of children. They are committed to providing active learning opportunities to those who might not otherwise have access to such programs. ROCK aims to promote the positive development and long-term success of the youth that it serves through a combination of in-school and after school learning enrichment, sports and fitness, leadership training and outdoor adventure opportunities. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® in San Francisco to help raise money and collect supplies for this charitable organization.

Des Moines

On day three of Lend a Hand Al Roker visited Des Moines to supply Iowa Homeless Youth Centers (IHYC) with money and supplies to aid the center in providing for the area's homeless youth. The IHYC works to eliminate homelessness among children, youth and young mothers in Polk County. With citizen support and assistance, IHYC helps homeless individuals and families live independently and attain self-sufficiency. The TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® franchise in Des Moines was on location to help Lend A Hand distribute the donations of food, clothes, and much more.

Memphis

Day four of Lend a Hand found Al Roker in Memphis to help out the New Ballet School located in Memphis. The New Ballet School brings a diverse population of students together by providing a professional standard of training, regardless of the ability to pay. New Ballet Ensemble is the professional company of performers who appear on the main stage and in our schools where students are engaged, educated and recruited for scholarships in the New Ballet School. Lend a Hand also made a stop in Nashville, which was recently hit by a devastating flood, to help rebuild the communities that have been ravaged by the flood with the help of Hands on Nashville (HON). Since 1991, HON has worked each day to match volunteers with community need. In 2009, HON connected 38,969 volunteers to service opportunities in over 300 nonprofits, government agencies, and schools. In response to the flooding disaster in Tennessee, Hands On Nashville's impact has become far greater. Between May 2 and today, HON has placed over 15,000 volunteers in recovery service, making a $1.3 million economic impact through human capital. The Memphis location of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® was there to help both cities. The franchise helped collect food, clothes, hardware supplies, among many other donations to aid both cities.

Lend a Hand

Thanks to TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® and many other donors Lend a Hand was able to raise more than $4 million, making this year the most sucessful year in Lend a Hand's nine year history.

Minneapolis Southwest, Minn.

The Minneapolis Southwest franchise of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® recently recieved this letter from a very satisfied customer.

Steve,

In the event you did not speak to the team of movers who worked with us on our move, I wanted to shoot you some quick comments.

• Kevin, Torrey and Neil were wonderful. These guys were easy to talk to, asked great questions, worked quickly, worked safely and appeared to work very well together.

• Kevin (as the lead) was very open with me on several occasions regarding how the move was going, issues he foresaw and periodic updates regarding time and load volume.

• Kevin, Torrey and Neil graciously went about the inconvenient task of shedding their shoes everytime they entered our new home and needed to walk in areas not protected by carpet shield.

• We have unpacked 75% of our items and have yet to come across a scratched or broken item.

• Even though you estimated "a tight fit... into one truck load", these guys did TWO FULL TRUCK LOADS (pack, deliver, unload) and still had to leave items behind. All in less time than you estimated they could do one truck load.

• After delivering the final load, Kevin, Torrey and Neil asked my wife several times if she would like them to move items into different rooms, or reposition furniture, or reorganize any items stacked in the garage for access.

While we provided these guys a monetary tip, we also wanted to notify you and whomever you feel is appropriate that these guys did an excellent job and we want to say "thank you" once again.

Regards,

Rob

The Charleston franchise of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® recieved this reply card from a satisfied customer who could not fill out the customer survey but wanted to thank the franchise for a job well done.

I could not access your survey - on limited service for the time being. But I do want to compliment your company for the service that TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® provided me in Charleston, S.C. I contracted them for service to move furniture to our truck. They arrived on time, couldn't have been more efficient and helpful and were such nice young men to have around. From the lady who answered my questions, took the order, confirmed and the men who did the job, it was tops. The communications companies should take lessons from you. Thank you for some of the best experiences I have had.

Lansing, Mich.

The Lansing franchise of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® recieved this e-mail form a satisfied customer thanking them for an oustanding move.

Dear TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®,

Benjamin, your Sales Manager, visited us first, he was just an exceptional young gentleman! Ben was a very good listener and he went all the way to help us understand every detail of the operation. He accommodated all our move-out-and-move-in desires with a smile on his face!
The two young gentlemen who helped us move were Kyle "the composed-calm driver" and Jake "the smiling-gentle giant".

Kyle and Jake were just exceptionally dedicated, polite, patient, and hard working. They were so nice, as if they were our own family. They were running with our heavy boxes and large furniture on their backs to save us money, refusing to take even a small break! Incredibly, they did indeed save us money!

My wife and I have seen, and interacted, with thousands of young people all over the United States, and in many more countries in Europe. We both agreed to rank Kyle and Jake in the top 5-10 people, up there together with our own son!  You should be proud to have such exceptional associates like Ben, Kyle and Jake. We were simply amazed by their service!

And you, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, you absolutely deserve your one-of-a-kind reputation!  Way to go Ben, Kyle and Jake!

Sincerely,

Serban & Michelle

Little Rock, Ark.

The Little Rock franchise of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® recently recieved this letter from a very satisfied customer.

I would love to write a testimonial on TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®! This last week, Brooke, my daughter, moved from Fayetteville, Arkansas, back to Little Rock after ten years. I normally would have to go up and help her move, but when she told me that she had contracted with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, I felt such a relief. The packers were very professional and helpful. The boxes were more than adequate and nothing was broken, upon arrival.

I commend you for running such a great operation and will certainly use you again and will tell others.

God Bless the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®!

My daughter and I are really happy with the job they performed and wanted you to know that we appreciated their efforts on Wednesday. As this was my daughter's first apartment, she was apprehensive, overwhelmed and nervous, but Joseph and Micah handled the situation extremely well, and put her at ease with their friendly banter. Again, our experience with your company was outstanding and we will be glad to recommend your services if we are in a situation to do so.

Thanks very much,

Pinellas, Fla.

The Pinellas, Florida franchise of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® recieved this letter thanking the team for a job well done.

Dears -

After 17 major household moves over my lifetime - to six different countries, nine different cities, four different towns and three different languages, I should be a moving expert by now. I never wanted to suffer through another!

Frankly, with memories of those moves full of mental and physical exhaustion and disappointment and major damage (to my favorite pieces, of course - like my treasured family piano dumped on its face off a flatbed truck in Peru and destroyed at the very instant the leader barked that they knew what they were doing) no wonder I came to dread ever moving again.

I don't know how you found these two special guys, but Brandon and Jose came out of that truck right on time with a uniquely reassuring attitude and superb willingness and concern for me and for my belongings that never wavered all day long.

It still amazes me that everything ended up exactly where I needed it and without even one tiny scratch on one single piece! AND they did it in less time than the estimate on a beastly hot day. I absolutely have the highest respect for the care and dedication these two guys showed me and my things - they truly epitomize and exceed your motto "Movers Who Care".

Your flexibility in patiently rescheduling when the closing date changed over and over was remarkable as well. I have nothing but praise for the entire experience. Really! What a great move!

This was unquestionably my best move EVER!

Thank you, thank you THANK you!

Toledo, Ohio

The TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® franchise located in Toledo recieved another letter over the weekend from Humane Ohio thanking them again for their donation to their pet food bank.

Dear Amy,

Thank you a million times for playing such a major role in our Iams donation!  You personally started the ball rolling on what turned out ot be a great team effort. Without you personally, or the very generous support of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, none of this would have happened. It's so exciting to think about how many pets and people we will be able to help as a result and we have you to thank for that! Thank you for the tremendous amount of time you spent on this project and for being patient and flexible when the trip ended up taking much longer than we originally planned on! We now have a box of kleenex on the desk in the pet food bank because so many people cry when they tell their stories of why they need our help and they become so emotional at the thought of someone being willing to help them. It always makes us think of you and the role you played in making all of this possible.

THANK YOU!!!
Jill

P.S. please thank your drivers and entire team for us!

Praise for the Midwest

The TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® franchises located in Toledo, Ohio; Bay City, and Oakland County, Mich. have all recieved thank you letters from very satisfied customers.

Toledo

Dear Luann,

Thank you so, so much for your very generous donation to Humane Ohio and for all of the time that you put into coordinating the pick-up in Leipsic. We really, really appreciate your help and your time and the fact that you went to bat on our behalf.  TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® went above and beyond and with out you, we could not have been able to take advantage of IAMS' generous donation. I know the pick-up did not exactly go according to plan and I cannot tell you how much we appreciate your patience and flexability with the situation. You are single handedly making sure that we can help more people and pets and it's such a relief to know that we won't run out of food or have to turn away anyone any time soon. I wanted to say thank you, but there are not words to express how much your support means to us and the animals and the poeple we help!

Sincerely,
Jim

Bay City

Dear Firends,

On behalf of Bay Area Women's Center, I would like to thank you for your donation of one half a truckload of clothing, personal care items, and food. We truly appreciate your thoughtfulness and work on our behalf.

Your generosity helps to provide free services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.  Through your event, Movers for Moms you have shown us that you value our organization and understand its importance.

Thank you for demonstrating your commitment to our mission. Together we will continue the vital services needed and make progress to end violence in Bay and Arenac Counties.

Sincerely,
Regina

Oakland County

Dear Darlene,

On behalf of HAVEN, I would like to extend our appreciation for the services Patrick and Jesse provided for moving items out of our Farminton Hlls Office and relocating those items to our outer office in Bingham Farms and Pontiac.

The movers were efficient and were able to accomodate an unexpected power outage that left some of the rooms in our office completely dark. With the aid of just light from their cell phones, they still were able to disassemble the whiteboards from the walls and remove furniture from very tight quarters and kept the process completely on track.

In times of tight budgets, HAVEN truly appreciates the services that were provided at no cost to our agency - in our eyes that is priceless!

Thank you again!
Marianne

Dear Tripp:

Thank you for your generous support of the Realtors® Care Day project on April 23.  With your assisstance, the Realtors® community helped thirty-one homeowners in Mecklenburg and Iredell counties with critical home-repair needs and safety modifications that will enhance their property and their lives.

Your $500 site sponsorship and your in-kind donation of transporting leftover materials and tables for Realtors® Care Day not only assissted in helping fund the repairs, but it also furthered the mission of the foundation. As we work throughout the year to position and educate Realtors® as leaders, promote homeownership and provide funding to create housing opportunities, we will remember your generosity.

Even as our community experiences difficult economic times, it is encouraging that strong leaders like you are willing to contribute toward providing a safe environment for individuals who were part of Realtors® Care Day. With you as our partner, we can reach our goal of becoming a leader for affordable and sustainable housing in the community.

Again, thank you for your support and for allowing us to affect the lives of thirty-one homeowners, their families and their neighbors.
